In honor of Earth Day we’re rounding up the many ways we’re keeping our construction projects eco-friendly, and what you should look for when choosing a construction company to partner with. Working directly with the earth is something our team does every day. It’s second nature for our crew to make ethical and safe decisions because it’s part of our mission of RESPECT. 

One way we’re protecting the environment is through our safety practices. By double-checking materials, and making sure we’re using less invasive equipment, we’re making sure no potential leaks or unnecessary damage is done at our construction sites.

We’re excited to announce our latest employee spotlight and give you a behind-the-scenes look at our Plug and Abandonment Division, or as we call it, our P&A Division. Meet Jacob Posada! We’re proud to call him our Crew Supervisor and love seeing the work our P&A Division has accomplished this year. Jacob has been in the construction industry for over 6 years and has grown to a leadership role within the company. We sat down and got to know what drives him and what he enjoys most about working for the Fortress Development Solutions team. 

Jacob supervises a crew in the P&A division where they remove facilities, flowlines, and cut and cap wellheads. He’s in charge of scheduling equipment and making sure daily operations are done safely and efficiently. This is something that’s very important for every aspect of the business. We take safety seriously and love seeing our team making safe decisions on the job. Since the beginning of 2021his team has removed many flowlines, cut and caps, and facilities.  
 

We asked what a typical day looks like in his division. He said, “A typical day for me is arriving at the location, assessing hazards, filling out JSA, going over JSA with everyone on location, starting job tasks for the day, finish job tasks, and start planning for the next day.” When planning for the following day Jacob makes sure to schedule necessary equipment and personnel to get the job done. He understands the importance of planning ahead for construction projects. “Planning helps me manage time and employees to reach goals safely and efficiently. Planning is crucial in daily operations.”

When asked about his leadership motivations, and what drives him, Jacob replied, “Being a leader helps me, guide crew, to stay focused and finish job task without delays.” Not only is Jacob a leader at work he leads in his personal life as well. In his free time, Jacob likes to play soccer with family and friends. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to the Fortress Development Solutions team. 

We stepped onto the flowline site with Everardo, or Evvy as his crew knows him, to see a day in the life of our flowline division! From start to finish we can feel the passion and vision Evvy brings to every project. 

They were working on a new flowline connection while digging, connecting to a meter house, and there was a hydrovac project happening right up the site as well. With many moving parts and 8 lines that will eventually connect to the separator, it takes many people collaborating to get the job done. 

Evvy has been with Fortress Development Solutions since 2016 and has worked in many different positions with the company. He has worked in hydrovac, plug and abandon, reclamation, fencing, stormwater, treeups, and now flowline division.

As a Flowline Division Supervisor, he has grown his team and hired many new employees. The Flowline Division split into two teams with Evvy Delacruz and Marco Castillo as the supervisors. They’ve hired 12 new team members last January. Evvy’s grown to a leadership role and it shows in his personal life as well. He coaches team sports and participates in local leagues as well. 
 

We asked Evy if he has a favorite project that he's proud of. He said,  "Flowline for the 425 facility was one of my very first projects I did and everything went smooth. Our crew had to cross a corner with quite a few line crossings from gas, oil, to electrical underground and overhead lines and it was a very hard task but we got it done and we're very proud of everyone and how that section of the job went." 

Evvy makes things fun for the employees by making sure everyone is comfortable in the task they are doing lots of shadow training. He also tries to have a day of the month to cookout for the guys if the weather is nice. We applaud what Evvy has built with his team!
